After several weeks in beta, the remote downloading feature has been released today and will be included in your next Steam Client update. This allows you to start a download on your computer from anywhere in the world (With internet access). This applies to both the Mobile app, and the new web-based download feature. Buying a game on steam will also now ask if you wish to download it to your PC. The full statement from Steam will be linked below

I don't know about you guys, but I know my wallet is going to be getting considerably lighter over the coming weeks.

Diablo III Teething problems

With Diablo III released yesterday, and with a great deal expected from the game, here is a rundown of the day-one news.
First, the errors;

Error 37 - This was the error generated when players were unable to log in. This is associated with the game required a permanent internet connection to play. The Blizzard servers were overwhelmed and few people were able to log in

Error 3003 - Appeared to be along the same lines as Error 37. The connection timed out and many people were left unable to begin their game.

Error 3006 (First reported by Eurogamer) - It appears that for some players, giving a Templar follower with a shield results in a desynchronisation from the game, a boot back to the login screen, and the inability to log back in. Blizzard have noted that a Hotfix is in the works

In Speed run news, it appears the game can be completed in 5.5 hours start to finish.
Early reports put a group of Chinese players completing the game in just under 12 hours, but Korean clan EHG has reportedly completed the game in 5.5 hours. Just when something appears to be going right however, it seems as though, due to a server problem, the final boss's loot cannot be obtained

XBLA Minecraft breaks sales records

The Xbox Live Arcade edition of the popular PC sandbox game Minecraft went on sale 5 days ago for 1200 MS points. In those five days, one million copies of the game have been sold, including a record 400,000 on the first day. This eclipses the recent day-one record of 100,000 held by Trials Evolution.
Notch took to Twitter after seeing the sales figures, and said that "the official sales numbers for the first 24 hours of Minecraft Xbox 360, and [they're] very, very good. Profitable in an hour.

I don't think many people are really surprised by this. The number might seem a little higher than expected, but on the large this was always going to do well. At ~20AUD, the game has generated over $20 million in the first 5 days of release. What will be interesting will be how the game deals with the constant updating required of the PC version. Valve are noted adversaries of the Xbox content update system, given the difficulty in pushing out free, frequent updates,  so whether this will leave console users behind, or with broken parts of the game (As was so common in the PC version) will remain to be seen.
