    Default Day Z

I'm a day late and a dollar short with this, but I thought today we'd take a look at the DayZ mod.

For those unfamiliar with Day Z, it is an "open-world, persistent, PvP and PvE zombie survival mod"(PCGamer), for Arma 2. It takes place in a 225km^2 map, and features advanced AI zombies, while requiring players to make the decision to play the game alone, or to team up and try and survive with the minimal resources supplied, or whatever they can scavenge.

Arma 2 has been sitting atop the steam most popular games over the last week, and DayZ is definitely contibuting to this, boasting 48000 Unique users have participated in the Alpha.

I have not personally played the game, but I'll be buying ARMA 2 and installing this over the coming days (So expect a post about it in the coming weeks). Until then, PCGamer has been running an excellent series regarding the game itself, so give that a look.

This looks amazing. Arma II Combat Operations is $30 on steam. I think I need to convince one more of my friends that this is what we will be playing over the holidays before spending that much. Alternatively, if it goes on sale ($15 like it has been in the past) I will impulse buy it.

It's been on sale off and on over the last few weeks/months. If it does go on again, I'll stick it on the front page.

I picked it up off Amazon for US$15 for the Combine Ops pack (you just need a US address in your Amazon account). I've just started playing it in the past couple of days, it's intense!

There are games where one can take an arrow to the knee, however "bleeding out your arse" certainly ranks right up there. This games looks like it would be a hoot multi-player

    watched some of the videos

looks awesome, despite graphical glitches and other game glitches referred to in some of the links/articles

i'd be keen to give it a go, HOWEVER - looks like it's pretty involved to set it all up AND i don't think it would really suit "casual gaming" very well....you'd have to really have an organised game time etc etc

so for that reason, it's in my 'too hard basket'

Hopefully it gets popular enough that they can sell it standalone on steam + moe can host a server.

I've been playin it for the last coupla weeks (clocked up 45 hours already lol), its buggy as hell as is to be expected for an alpha. That aside it's a shit hot game/concept and I'm really enjoying it.

If there's any chance of GU running a server in the future that'd be pretty prime as the majority of the Aus servers suck massive donkey balls.
