    Default LG takes S11 Crown

ESEA Season 11 concluded over the weekend, with the LAN finals. Meeting in the finals were the top 4 invite teams, Mihalys Flow, srsly br0, Leviathan Gaming (formally Quantic Gaming), and defending champions Classic Mixup.

The first round saw the 15-1 Mihalys FLOW take on the only team who managed to defeat them this season, Leviathan Gaming, Mihalys took cp_snakewater 5-4, and then dropped badlands and process_c6 to see Mihalys unexpectedly drop into the lower bracket. Classic Mixup made short work of srsly br0, taking snakewater & gullywash 5-3, 5-3.In the Lower Bracket Final 1, srsly br0 defeated Mihalys 4-1 on viaduct, and 5-3 on granary to unexpectedly give Flow an early exit.

Leviathan defeated Mixup to set up a rematch with srsly br0. Again Mixup defeated br0 in two matches to obtain their Grand Final berth. LG again took out their matchup in two matches, to take the crown of ESEA Invite Season 11 TF2 Champions.

Congratulations to Tyrone, b4nny, clockwork, cyzer, DAVE_AC and shade on their title.

new controversy unfolding, and this is what I've deduced from the natf2 and esea forums....

for quite a while now, there has been a big community donation drive to send 1 or 2 teams to europe for i46 LAN. eXtv are organising this, and having an event this weekend to determine which team/s will qualify to receive the subsidy/money to go to i46.

there are some questions being asked:
why the winner of this online tournament is somehow more deserving to go than LG are? (considering LG just won on LAN and the 'online superstar teams' failed to replicate winning results)
therefore, why not take a LAN result over an online result? (apples with apples)
does it have to be a team or are they going to send a composite team?
do roster changes that are predicted soon have any bearing?
ie, does team stability count for anything? (note LG/quantic/eMg have been together for ?3/4 seasons)
should the community (those who are donating) get to vote on the team, rather than the winner getting automatic berth?

    in eXtv's defence
    a) the eXtv crew discussed this all with the team captains well before the S11 LAN, and all were in agreeance
    b) alot of people donated with the expectation that there would be an extra tournament for them to watch etc
    c) they're great drivers of community stuff like this and have been instrumental in raising the profile of top level tf2, to the point where i think the tf2 streams of the S11 LAN had considerably more viewers than the CS stream and will be reportedly contributing quite a bit out of their own pockets

PYYYOUR responed to this in one of the streams saying that he was against LG getting a free pass, but would be incredibly surprised if they didn't qualify in eXtv's event.

The eXtv guys have been copping a lot of pressure from people who followed ESEA S11, and were fanboyishly drooling over LG who beat the almost undefeated Flow. Keep in mind that some of these droolers are the people who donated, and they really want LG to get to i46 LAN, where others who donated want them to earn it, like all other teams.

Just another factor in the controversy.

I personally agree with what PYYYOUR said, LG would probably qualify to go to i46 LAN, but they should earn it.

well it's all changed in the last 24-48 hrs again.
reportedly, FLOW have disbanded, and the new mixup team is the new dream team.

TLR & harbleu (soldiers), PYYYOUR (medic), platinum (demo), ?ruwin and enigma (scouts)

Yeah, I'm looking forward to watching the new "classic" mixup.
All they needed was banny and clockwork and they'd be set!

I haven't seen Platinum on Demo before, I've only got into watching this stuff recently.

It's a shame Flow disbanded, but PYYYOUR really didn't want to captain again, and a few of the players were gonna drop out anyway.
Apparently PYYYOUR wasn't gonna play on any team after flow broke up after losing at LAN, but mixup picking up harbleu swayed him over.
